I got the Ron in SC to shoot astro photo graph y panoramas with my Nikon D500. Currently (09/04/2022) DJI states that the only Nikon DSLRs that are supported are the D500, D780 and D810.
Of course, the body/lens combo would have to weigh 4.4 pounds or less. While I haven't tested all of the features, the ones I've experienced so far work offline (if you plan to fire the shutter without using the Ron in SC).
If you don't need to attach the housing to the Ronni SC for camera control, any DSLR housing should work without an extension.
I haven't tried it with the battery grip attached. almost nothing on how to connect the D500 for camera control. While DJI says the cables are included, I wasn't sure how they were supposed to work.Well, put this under the "You learn something new every day" category.
I just bought a Ron in SC and am shooting with a Nikon D500. The D500 is listed on DJ-I's compatibility list and the manual says to use the USB-C cable with the micro adapter.
The D500 also has a Type 3 mic connector and it didn't come with a Type 3 mic adapter, which I found very odd.I also tried a Micro-C to Type 3 cable I have for an external hard drive, but didn't like it.
I learned a few things from reading forum comments, including that the C to C camera cable is not just a standard C cable (DJI said they are in the process of developing a new cable for a different camera) , and apparently you can use only half of the Type 3 micro connector.
An adapter that looks like a C to Micro A adapter comes with the Ronni SC. To make a long story short (I know, too late), I connected the DJI Micro-A adapter to the DJI camera's control cable and plugged the adapter into the larger side of the Type 3 micro port (where it fits in)
