 DJI Os-mo Pocket Review

I bought mine the day they were released and I have absolutely "zero" buyer regrets. There are many reviews on YouTube where you can see the video it is capable of producing (excellent), but I find that all  reviewers agree that this camera is a game changer.

It really is a 4K pocket camera with broadcast quality video that you can easily take with you. Yes, your phone's (expensive?)  camera can record 4K, but not as smoothly as this Os-mo Pocket.

No, it's not as rugged as a Go-pro and you can't use it underwater without a case, but it's very well made and I'm impressed with the results (handling errors). The only downside I found was DJI. insist on "activating" their products before you can use them.

In the case of the Osmo Pocket, this is compounded by the need for a smartphone with a "USB C" port to which the Pocket can be plugged. Not useful if you have a phone with a micro USB port; However, I did find a  'OTG' adapter (e.g. OnePlus OTG C)  to plug into myGalaxy 7 and not only activates it, but uses the Mimo software.

The LCD screen is large enough for  reasonably precise image adjustment, and the touch surface for controlling modes/settings/reviewing movies/photos works well. Switching between video and photo is easy (a single quick press of the power button) and the quality of the 12-megapixel photos is as good as any smartphone...

The 80-degree shooting angle  is wide enough and avoids the fisheye distortion so common with  degree panoramic or 3x3 wide-angle cameras) are very easy to photograph, although currently only visible in camera or in  Mimo software (IOS/Android).

However, my decision is to export those panorama/wide shots that will be at the top of  the developer list. what to do, not to mention avid app writers  looking for an opportunity.FWIW, the pano photos are in a separate folder on the micro SD card and can be connected to Photoshop or a similar editor.

The accessories are not too expensive, although they are not yet commercially available at the time of testing. Auction sites and other sources now have plenty of accessories available  so  picking up the pocket will be a hit.

Overall, I think the Osmo Pocket strikes a good balance between size, performance, and price. For the pro 'A' role, using your Osmo Plus or DSLR on a Ronin would probably be better, but with trappable batteries, mic inputs, headphone and video outputs, follow focus adapters, etc. it goes above and beyond beyond what the Pocket is about.

For small, low-key shots, vlogging, and b-roll, it's unmatched. For amateur/semi-pro enthusiasts, it is  much easier to use than a smartphone/action camera to get shake-free videos. So easy to use for dad filming the grand kids.

Excellent for video stabilization. Photos are grainy. It doesn't have a zoom function (at least not as it comes). It wants to follow your face, so fixing the position can be quite annoying when you don't necessarily want to see someone's face. the center.

The panorama photo comes out pretty well and is great because it pans for you, you literally  hold it up and the head spins for you as it takes 4 shots to combine it into a panorama.

The app is a bit limited or maybe just complicated to use as I wanted to edit photos and videos myself without necessarily using the suggested auto template but I found it annoying to navigate around and gave up so still for editing .

The camera has a slow motion feature where the entire video is recorded in slow motion. Lots of room for improvement including a built in place to store the phone jack as it is small and likely to get lost but overall I will keep this camera as a , useful for good quality video and well stabilized.

I have yet to explore all the additional accessories for this, but as far as I know they will help with many upgrade needs, but I still think  it should be standard.

Which is healthier  DJI Os-mo Pocket or GoPro?

DJI Os-mo Pocket vs Go-pro Hero: sturdiness If you drop your Os-mo Pocket, there' an honest probability it'll break the gimbals (I've done this). Go Pro is created for adventures and may do exactly concerning something with it. Go-pro simply wins this category.

What is the DJI Os-mo Pocket for?

The DJI Os-mo Pocket is suitable for blogging. It's small and light enough to carry around for long periods of time. degrees, and its auto focus system does an excellent job of tracking the faces of moving subjects.

Can I use the Os-mo Pocket without a phone?

Unfortunately, it's actually not  possible to activate a DJI Os-mo Pocket without a smartphone, but your options aren't as limited as you might first think. In fact, you can  activate the camera on an iPad and many more Android phones than officially stated, even if they have micro USB ports.
