Canon EF-S 24MM 1.2.8 STM 

 I'm in love with this lens! It's great value for money, lightweight and has a 2.8 aperture that really makes shooting in low light possible. 

I'm honestly amazed at how well it works. 18-55 kit lens and 55-250 lens.And honestly, sometimes I just grab the lens  when I know I can zoom with my feet. 

However, be careful how it is mounted. The first one I received was faulty and  too tight in the frame (I was hoping that it would break when put  on and it would be almost impossible to take it off). So I sent it back, got a replacement and now it works great.

 I love Cannon for all my photography needs. Wonderful minimum focal length, it even has auto focus, it fits and works perfectly, ideal for ANY macro photography. 

Amazon never lets me down! I will continue to shop here and buy Cannon for all my photography needs. I can never say enough about you.

I mainly use it to photograph the stars at night. The lens is simple (24mm fixed focal length), fast (f/2.8) and the images are very precise, which is necessary to capture  subtle variations in stars. 

 

Although I don't use autofocus at night,  in tests I also ran during the day, the autofocus was very clear. The first two photos I've included have no post-processing.Post processing would remove some of the speckles between the stars in the night shot. 

 

The mottle is caused by noise in the camera due to the long exposure (2 seconds) and high ISO setting (12800). Daytime shots are taken with autofocus and other automatic settings enabled. 

 

The third shot involves post-processing, but you can't get a good end product if you don't start with good images. From what has been said, I also tested this lens very closely, with the  lens wide open and set  at f/2.

 

The tests used a patch of very small white dots on a black background. What I have found is that there is  very slight chromatic aberration for all points and a combination of coma and astigmatism at the edges of the image. 

 

In other words, I wouldn't use this lens to create poster-sized images with lots of fine detail around the edges. No big surprise for such a simple lens design, but you get what you pay for.In short, no lens is perfect and this one has its quirks like any other. 

But the field was flat, the distortion was low and (IMHO) for the price it was excellent.
