 Review

Let's be honest, for the price, it's hard to complain  about a 1080 indoor/outdoor camera that works pretty well. also for cloud storage  and the video quality is pretty good. However, in 2022, I'm still shocked at how poor the feature set is at the companies that make these products.

First of all, every brand should have  local and cloud storage options. Tick this box. I see a  lot of break-ins in  and even  thieves have learned how to grab the camera, rip the  doorbell off the camera, etc.

If you have local external storage that the cameras are recording on, remove it  from your router/modem and hide it (it should be better WiFi) or they will find it and take it too. So we can debate the privacy of cloud storage, but you really want a system with  local and cloud recording and preferably 24/7 cloud recording for all wired cameras.

I can't count the number of break-ins I've seen where the owner had cameras but  ended up with no video or at best a few notifications on their phone with no  records. 7 days a week is ideal, you want to be able to switch back to a camera feed in case something weird happens.

For example, if most people  have a camera in their front yard, they set it up so they don't get alerted about cars and people on the sidewalk. It is understandable that you will receive a notification every 5 minutes.

However, if  your neighbors mention that a stranger's car was parked across the street or that a stranger recently walked by, you'll want to be able to go back and look at footage from the past few days.Wyze can't do that last part, all you can get are cloud motion notification records. You can do this from the camera if you use 24/7 recording to  SD card.

Geo fencing for multiple  people, this is what really surprises me that more companies don't have it. If it's 24/7 outdoor  cameras or you live alone it might not be a big deal,

but the fact that more companies can't geo fence all family members  is very annoying, and unless all family members are busy doing the manual one Turn cameras on/off, you're bombarded with notifications (which you'll soon ignore) or the cameras won't turn on when nobody's home,  of those are good.

Wyze can't do this, and after using systems with this capability, this was a deal breaker. Integration is the last part which is difficult but important. For example, it would be nice if  the camera in the backyard saw someone at  say 9pm.

They had one to  see what's going on. Worse still, the features change depending on the equipment even on the same brand, some cameras for Brand X record to the cloud, some don't, some work with Alexa, some don't, even if you settle on the changes from the single brand functionality .

Now I  understand you can't record 24/7 with battery cameras, but you'll see wired cameras for one brand, some record to the cloud, some don't. t, some only record clips in the cloud, others 24/7, etc.

Moving ahead as a consumer, probably on purpose. Many will say "works with Alexa," but it's hard to pinpoint exactly what features are present. Can you  ask Alexa to show the video on an echo show?

Can Alexa notify you? On notification, can Alexa automatically play the video from the camera when motion is detected, etc.? to know the limits. Said for the price, the  can be done a lot worse than these.
